The new modular CT facility provides the space and infrastructure needed to support advanced diagnostic imaging, helping improve access to essential healthcare services for the Squamish and Sea-to-Sky communities. Loud noise is everywhere—lawn mowers, trucks, table saws, snowmobiles, rock concerts. Repeated exposure can cause permanent hearing loss. Once it’s gone, it cannot be repaired. Hazards to watch out for: • Extremely loud noise, even briefly • Long-term exposure to moderately loud sounds In BC, annual hearing tests are required. Check your results to ensure your protection is effective, use hearing protection for sounds over 80 decibels, if you have to raise your voice to be heard it’s time for ear protection, and always choose protectors you’ll actually wear for the entire exposure. Types of Hearing Protection: • Foam Earplugs: Snug in the ear canal, disposable after one use • Earmuffs: Seal around your head, cuffs replaced yearly, last 4–5 years • Custom-Molded Earplugs: Medical-grade silicone, last 3–4 years Remember: Hearing loss is preventable, not treatable.
